The mission of the Johnson Foundation is to support and strengthen nonprofit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati and Greater Roanoke regions through thoughtful grantmaking. Our efforts are focused on the following service areas:
Traditional Grants to Nonprofit Organizations:
Urban Affairs: The Foundation is committed to serving nonprofits whose organizations contribute to the vibrancy of Cincinnati’s urban core, with a special focus on community engagement and community development projects.
Animals/Animal Welfare: The Foundation supports local nonprofit organizations that promote the care, conservation and prevention of cruelty to animals.
Grant applications for these funding areas are accepted by invitation only, and are evaluated on a quarterly basis.

Grants to Individuals:
Civic Engagement/Community Development Grants to Individuals: The Foundation awards grants to individuals through People’s Liberty for projects focused on civic engagement and community development.
